Two Brighton and Hove supporters have been stabbed and mugged by a masked gang in Rome final evening forward of tonight’s Europa League conflict, police have stated.

The two males aged 28 and 29 have been taken to hospital for ‘minor knife wounds’ of their thighs following the knifepoint theft, a spokesman stated.

Police have been known as to the historic Monti district of Rome after a restaurant waiter raised the alarm round midnight on Wednesday night.

The two soccer followers had been attacked on the street by ‘six of seven individuals carrying masks’, the police spokesman stated.

The pair have been robbed of a belt bag containing their id paperwork and wallets. An investigation is underway.
