If you have an airfryer, you may want to pay attention.
You can officially ditch the elbow grease when it comes to cleaning your beloved gadget. It turns out that a humble kitchen staple – the dishwasher tablet – is your new best friend for a quick and easy clean-up.
Forget the tiresome scrubbing you’re used to – this nifty trick has been buzzing on the Mrs Hinch Army Cleaning Tips Facebook page, where Ruth Hankey sparked a lively discussion with her query. She asked: “Has anyone put a dishwasher tablet in their air fryer baskets, and left it to soak? Does the hack actually work?”

According to The Express, the response was overwhelming, with many Hinchers swearing by the method. Charlotte Robinson shared her routine, advising: “I do it all the time with hot water leave to soak and wash next morning.”
Michelle McKenzie added: “I have and yes it does work. It’s also good for lots of burnt-on food. Add a dishwasher tablet to the basket. Five minutes without scrubbing required.”
Meanwhile, Jaqueline Mackie replied, saying: “I use a dishwater tablet in it with boiled water. Pour out after five minutes before giving it a rinse.”
These nifty little blocks are a game-changer for scrubbing away stubborn stains, banishing blemishes and freshening up your drains – without needing an arsenal of cleaning products.
Dishwasher tabs are the secret weapon for blasting through the nastiest food and grease spots, so it’s no shocker they’re ace for sprucing up air fryers too.
But some Mrs Hinch devotees reckon Ruth should stick to good old washing-up liquid instead. Rebecca Bacon advised: “You don’t need to. Just soak in Fairy Liquid [washing up liquid] after use then rinse.”
Louise Bishop chimed in: “They’re non-stick so after every use, use a bit of washing up liquid and hot water. Leave to soak for 10 to 15 minutes. Pour out and rinse with water.”
Amanda Elizabeth also wrote: “Just wash with washing up liquid and hot water in the sink. It’s clean within seconds using a sponge and no faffing around, same with silicone liners.”
Meanwhile, if you’re looking for ways to freshen up your oven, Stacey Solomon has recently dropped a game-changing cleaning tip for tackling those pesky grease marks with ease.
In the latest episode of her BBC One show, Sort Your Life Out, Stacey headed off to Huntingdon to help Ron and Toyah declutter their property, which had turned into a bit of a jumble sale since they hopped across the pond from the US.
While the squad was sorting out the chaos, cleaning whizz Iwan Carrington let slip a nifty little secret for making the oven clean-up a piece of cake.
