Premier League legend Nobby Solano has taken a shock new role in the seventh tier.
The former Newcastle United maestro is now the gaffer at Blyth Spartans, following their relegation from the Vanarama National League North. The deal was clinched on Friday (May 3) after successful negotiations with the club’s bigwigs.
Blyth are aiming to make a comeback after a lacklustre season that saw them demoted to The Pitching In Northern Premier League. They bid farewell to ex-Gateshead striker Jon Shaw before announcing Solano’s appointment.

Fresh from his international coaching gig with Peru, including at the 2018 World Cup and Copa America, as well as a jaunt in Sweden with Eskilstuna, Solano is buzzing to get started on his latest challenge, reports the Mirror.
“It’s a wonderful challenge,” Solano beamed. “I’m really pleased. One of the reasons I accepted is the way my ex-teammate, Steve Howard showed me the ambition of the club which is some I love.
