Woman reveals checklist of distinctive child names – together with Vesper and Navy

A woman has revealed her list of unique baby names to her followers – but some people have told her that they sound like they should be for dogs.

Abbi-Mae, from London, admitted that her friends and family tell her that her choices are ‘quite strange’.

She started off with her list of boy names and said that ‘Navy’ was a strong contender, adding that it has become ‘really popular’ recently.

The 23-year-old said: ‘Everyone used to make fun of me for that and now I know three [people] named Navy.’

Abbi-Mae, who works as a model, said she loves the name Vesper’, but said it gets hated on quite frequently.

‘Everyone is always [saying] “Like the motorbike?” I’m like yeah, like the motorbike! I think Vesper is really cool, [for] a girl or boy,’ she added.

Abbi-Mae, from London, admitted that her friends and family tell her that her choices are ‘quite strange’

The content-creator said she also likes the name Storm, but said it would only suit a boy. ‘I know there’s Stormi like Kylie Jenner‘s child but Storm for a boy,’ she said.

She then went on to say that she has always liked the name Lucky, despite others telling her that it should be a name for a dog and added that she didn’t really care about their opinion.

Blue is the next name on her list, with Abbi-Mae admitting that once knew a dog with that name but she feels like ‘colour names can be really cool’.

And it seems the TikToker also likes geographical names as she loves Rhodes, the name of the popular Greek island, and it just so happens to be her boyfriend’s middle name.

‘I think that’s really cute and sweet and I really like it as a name. It’s kinda usual but still a real name,’ she said.

She said she also loved the name Aspen, a popular ski resort in Colorado

‘I’m British, I don’t know if someone in the US would not want this as a name because it’s a location,’ she said.

Abbi-Mae then moved on to reveal her baby girl names, starting with Sloane, which she said she got from a series she liked to watch in her younger days.

She said: ‘The next one gets hate comments from her friends, Soleil, as in the sun. The first hate comment I get about that is that it sounds like a circus performer, which I think comes from Cirque du Soleil.

She said she loved the name Navy but was mocked for it and now ‘everyone’ has that name

TikTok users commented their thoughts on Abbi-Mae’s list of baby names but people had split opinions

‘The second reason people don’t like it is because my boyfriend’s friend pointed out the other day when I was saying it was that he thought I was saying “slay”.’

Abbi-Mae – who said in the clip that she might not have children – then revealed her top girl name, Inez, which she got from a Taylor Swift song.

In hit song betty, from her 2020 album Folklore, Swift sings: ‘You heard the rumours from Inez / You can’t believe a word she says most times’.

Swift later revealed the character was named after Blake Lively and Ryan Reynold’s daughter.

‘I think it’s so pretty and I actually think it’ll come back around as it’s an older name,’ she said.

The last couple of names that Abbi-Mae had on her list were Alila – which she admitted to making up when she was younger – Mila and Mae.

‘Is it self-obsessed to name children after you? Possibly,’ she said.

TikTok users took to the comments to discuss her list, with people saying some of their dogs were called the names on Abbi-Mae’s list.

One wrote: ‘My dog is called Lucky,’ while another said their canine had the name Blue.

‘My doggie’s name is Vesper and I’m actually kinda annoyed I didn’t save it for a baby name,’ a third commented.

A fourth said: ‘My baby boy is called Navy, I fell in love with the name as soon as I heard it.’

Another said: ‘We have a Phoenix and we love gender neutral names! We love Sage, Parker, Fox, Aspen, Dakota and Sky.’
