A lot of Brits like a cheeky bacon sandwich for their breakfast.
As well as being totally tasty, it’s also quick and simple to make, only taking a few minutes to fry up in the pan before it’s on your plate.
However, sausage brand Heck are hoping to grab some of the attention away from bacon with their new sausage rashers. Ready to eat in just five minutes, the no-nitrite, gluten-free beauties are just as quick to make as a packet of bacon.

But would they be just as tasty? I decided to find out by putting them to the test.
The rashers come in different variation – in either a Smokey Pork flavour, or Smokey Chicken. I decided to try them out at breakfast first, so I went for the pork variety.
The rashers are a bit less sturdy than bacon, so you have to make sure you handle them carefully, otherwise they will break apart before you’ve got them in the pan.
Just like it says on the description though, they only take five minutes to fry up, making them very quick and easy.
They are very tasty too – I tried them on top of toast with a fried egg. Although, I’d recommend ditching the butter, as I think they would have gone better without that.
I also tried the rashers at dinner time, having them on top of some pasta paired with a rich tomato sauce. I have to say, it really speeded up my dinner time, meaning I could make a tasty meal pronto.

I tried the chicken rashers in the evening too, pairing them with mushrooms, onions, white rice and soy sauce for a tasty treat. Again, chicken usually takes quite a while, but the rashers fried up in no time.
So the question is, are these better than bacon? In my opinion, no, but I also don’t see them as a direct rival. When it comes to breakfast, I’ll probably stick to the bacon, but for dinner time these are an actual dream, so go grab yourself some!
