Elon Musk urges controversial star to loosen up on-line – they usually’ve responded

Billionaire and Tesla owner Elon Musk has taken a swipe at JK Rowling over her social media content.

The tech mogul, known for his controversial views and his $44 billion (£35 billion) acquisition of Twitter in 2022 has suggested that the Harry Potter author should “post interesting content” rather than only sharing her opinions on transgender issues.

Rowling has faced backlash for her stance on trans issues, including from Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson. Radcliffe recently reaffirmed his support for the LGBTQ+ community.

Critics argue that Rowling, who became a billionaire through her globally successful Harry Potter series, fails to consider the impact of her views on the transgender community. Musk has now suggested that she diversify her discussion topics.

Elon Musk has stirred the pot once again, this time by clapping back at a tweet from Rowling where she doubled down on her views about biological sex, stating: “a woman is a human being who belongs to the sex class that produces large gametes”. The tech mogul responded: “While I heartily agree with your points regarding sex/gender, may I suggest also posting interesting and positive content on other matters? “, reports the Mirror.

The Harry Potter author, who has faced accusations of transphobia, insists her fight is for women’s safety, not against trans people, and she’s been vocal about resisting men who attempt to silence her with threats.

Rowling stood her ground in a fiery post last year, saying: “Men defining what a woman is, what women should and shouldn’t fear, what women should and shouldn’t say, what rights women should be fine with giving up and, of course, what constitutes ‘real’ misogyny: get a bloody mirror. That’s real misogyny, looking right back at you.”

Post-Musk’s dig, social media was abuzz with reactions, with one user expressing their shock: “elon musk telling jk rowling to shut up is not what i expected to see.”

In response to Musk’s tweet, Rowling seemingly shared a link to a recent interview and told her followers: “Hahaha, just realised that I missed being advised to share more positive content yesterday… sharing this about my writing life, which happens to have been published today in The Sunday Times, should in no way be interpreted as me doing as I’m told [wink emoji].”
