A football fan’s hand was left looking like a mangled mess after the flare he was holding exploded.
The PSV supporter went viral on social media after a video of the horror movie-like scenes were posted online. The fan had been attending his sides Eredivisie clash with Sparta Rotterdam on Sunday, when he was seen holding a flare ahead of kick-off.
However, the pyrotechnic misfired, and a sudden bang was heard as it exploded in his hand. Initially, in the first of two clips, the fan seemed to do his best to shake off the scary incident. But a second grim video was then posted, showing the mangled remains of what used to be the fan’s hand.

One of his fingers was severed, while blood could be seen pouring out onto the pavement as other fans rushed to help the distressed supporter. A police spokesman said, via De Telegraaf: “There are a lot of rumours going around. There is also a lot of video footage of the incident.
“They do show the explosion, but not whether the man picked up the fireworks himself or was handed them. He may have made a mistake when picking up the fireworks.”
PSV won their first Dutch title in six years on Sunday, beating Sparta 4-2 at home. Peter Bosz’s have been the team to beat in the Eredivisie, netting 107 goals while only losing one match en route to the title.
They needed just one point to wrap up the title at the Philips Stadion – but they did it in style, winning all three.
PSV’s star midfielder Joey Veerman told ESPN: “I have never experienced this before. Of course we knew this was coming, but it was still a bit of a struggle in the first half.
“It was very difficult, as if we were playing the first match of the season, but fortunately we scored four goals again and that is the most important thing. You felt after the 3-2 that we had that focus that they were not allowed to score again.”
