Jack Grealish admits dashing in £100k Range Rover as Man City star fined

Manchester City and England ace Jack Grealish has been slapped with a fine after admitting to speeding in his £100,000 Range Rover.

The Brummie midfielder was nabbed by a mobile camera doing 44mph in a 30mph zone in Wythall, Worcs, last July. Although he didn’t show up at Worcester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (May 8) morning, his barrister entered a guilty plea on his behalf.

Grealish had also faced a charge of failing to provide information relating to the identification of the driver. However, prosecutors dropped this charge following his guilty plea to the speeding offence.

John Dye, defending the 28-year-old England winger, said he had been “instructed to apologise” on behalf of his client. Grealish was hit with a £666 fine and handed five penalty points.

He was also told to cough up prosecution costs of £110. Magistrates also imposed a victim surcharge of £266, leaving Grealish with a total bill of £1,042, reports the Mirror.

This isn’t Grealish’s first run-in with driving offences. In 2020, the then Aston Villa captain was banned from driving for nine months and handed an £82,499 fine for two counts of careless driving.

The first offence took place during the UK national Covid lockdown. Just a day after urging people to stay at home to protect the NHS during the pandemic in a social media video, he crashed his car.

Grealish is believed to rake in £270,000 per week at City and is considered one of the most sought-after footballers by sponsors. He has profitable endorsement deals with kit manufacturer Puma, a rumoured seven-figure contract with Gucci and recently became an ambassador for Pepsi, also worth an estimated seven-figures.

Financial experts forecast he will have pocketed more than £100m by the time he hits 30. However, he has had a tough time on the pitch for Pep Guardiola’s City this season, netting only three goals and making just 10 Premier League starts with as many appearances off the bench for the champions.
