Klopp might miss final sport as Liverpool boss at Anfield – however makes vow to followers

Jurgen Klopp has vowed to fans he won’t miss Liverpool’s final home game of the season.

Klopp, 56, announced he was stepping down from his role at the Reds in January – and almost four months down the line his final game is almost here. However, there’s a chance Klopp might not be able to be on the touchline for his swan song.

This season, Klopp has been booked twice already and if he picks up another against Aston Villa on Monday he will have to serve a touchline ban on the final day of the campaign.

Speaking ahead of his clash with Villa, he said: “I know that already for a long [time], when did I get the second yellow? By the way we could turn it around and say I only got two yellow cards, some of my colleagues got suspended, right?

“Hmm! I got calmer over the years, obviously! I don’t need to [be on the touchline for the final game] but it would be cool that I could do that. It will not be from my side, I will try absolutely everything to try not get involved in any kind of discussions.”

Klopp has two games left at the helm of Liverpool – with his farewell tour heading to Villa Park before it concludes at Anfield against Wolves.

Arne Slot looks set to be the man to replace Klopp on Merseyside, with the Dutch manager admitted he’d love the job. Slot said last month: “The only thing I can say about it is that the clubs are in negotiations – and then you sit in the waiting room and wait for what will come out.

“It seems clear to me that I would like to go to Liverpool…Now I am waiting to see whether the clubs reach an agreement. I have every confidence in that.”
