Prankster disguised as Man Utd star boards staff bus in ‘main safety breach’

An alarming security breach saw a YouTube prankster disguise himself as a Manchester United player and sneak his way onto the club’s team bus.

Lizwani, who previously gatecrashed the stage at the BAFTAs with the Oppenheimer cast, was up to his old tricks when he struck after Erik ten Hag’s flops were thrashed 4-0 by Crystal Palace. Dressed in a full United tracksuit and carrying a designer washbag, the online funnyman managed to dodge security outside Selhurst Park to stroll onto the waiting coach.

The Daily Mail report that he casually took a seat onboard the vehicle, with the driver waiting to take the Red Devils back up north following their thumping on Monday night, only to be quickly spotted by United’s own security team. The Mail say he was removed from the bus in an “amicable” manner, but the fact he was able to get onto the coach in the first place is understood to be viewed as a substantial security breach.

The Premier League is said to be treating the incident so seriously that it has issued an alert to all 20 clubs in the top flight, warning them that staff must be on guard and keep a lookout for any repeat attempts. Lizwani grabbed headlines with an equally bold stunt at the BAFTAs in February.

The trickster targeted the glitzy celebrity event at the Royal Festival Hall within London’s Southbank Centre. He stood behind Hollywood star Cillian Murphy, director Christopher Nolan and producer Emma Thomas as they accepted the award for best film for Oppenheimer.

His antics on Monday are believed to have caused great concern. Lizwani was detained at the scene, before police officers arrived to speak to him. The incident, footage of which is yet to make it onto his YouTube channel, has reportedly led to Palace launching an investigation.

The Mail stated that CCTV is being examined by Eagles officials, in an effort to ascertain the trickster’s movements in the build up to him managing to get onto the bus. Palace security staff are said to have developed the theory that Lizwani got into the area where the United bus was waiting through an exit gate when it was opened after the game and then hid, before choosing his moment to try and pull off the audacious stunt.

Lizwani has previously targeted another Premier League fixture. In 2018 he posted online bragging about how he managed to get into a Tottenham Hotspur match and pose outside the stadium with Argentina international Erik Lamela.
