Gardening professional shares ‘finest repair’ for bumpy garden — however not everybody’s satisfied

If you dream of having a perfect lawn, you probably envision it being like a smooth, soft carpet of lush, green grass. But what happens when it’s nothing like that at all?

Uneven lawns are a common frustration for homeowners, creating not only an eyesore but also a tripping hazard for families and pets. However, one gardening expert believes he has the perfect solution.

Davey Struggle, who posts online as @daveystruggle, is known for sharing his gardening tips, including advice on how to even out your lawn. In the video, which has gained more than 87,000 likes, he was seen running his lawn mower over a very uneven lawn before adding sand to even it out.

He explained: “Here is what my lawn looked like right before I decided to add 1000lbs of sand to it, and for good reason. My lawn was very bumpy and this is my attempt to achieve a smooth lawn using sand to level it.”

“This is after my first sand application and I thought I had ruined it at this point. That was about a month ago and this is what it looks like now. Most of the sand has settled down to the soil, and spring weather has brought some colour back into my lawn.”

“The lawn already feels much smoother than before and just looks much better and healthier, but I am far from done. I’ll be doing another application of sand in the next week, so stay tuned and see if I can turn this lawn into a golf course. Smooth lawn.”

TikTok users are at loggerheads over a grassy tip, with some praising the hack while others are sceptical about its impact on growth.

One user chimed in: “Always best to reseed once you’ve laid the sand. Otherwise, it’s near pointless if all you’ve done is levelled out and not actually helped the grass itself.”

Another added their two cents: “Looking good,” and a third suggested: “Buy a new lawn. Problem solved.” Meanwhile, another follower said: “Doing the same. Following along!”
