Noel Gallagher provides good purpose he did not do Man City Poznan celebration

Noel Gallagher couldn’t manage to take part in the Manchester City Poznan against Fulham after a “spectacular night out”.

The iconic Oasis star, 56, is a frequent face at City matches, both at home and on the road. Interestingly, he was spotted at Craven Cottage as the reigning Premier League champions thrashed Fulham with a stunning 4-0 win on Saturday (May 11).

Fulham’s defeat saw Josko Gvardiol rack up two goals, Phil Foden score, and Julian Alvarez seal their fate with a late penalty, reports the Mirror.

Pep Guardiola’s side proceeded to take another stride towards their fourth consecutive league title, although they were pushed back to second position following Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Manchester United on Sunday (May 12).

During the triumph, the away crowd indulged in their go-to Poznan celebration inspired by Poland’s Lech Poznan team and involves fans linking arms shoulder to shoulder, turning their backs to the pitch, and jumping in unison. It’s been a repeated ritual among City followers since 2010.

Whilst TNT Sports managed to capture this throughout the game, Gallagher was noticeable in the footage but didn’t partake in the Poznan with his fellow supporters. The Mancunian rock legend opened up about the constant camera attention during City matches on talkSPORT’s breakfast show with Jeff Stelling and Ally McCoist.

He also lifted the lid on why he couldn’t participate in the Poznan. “You don’t really know until after the game and your phone explodes,” Gallagher replied. “I have to say in my defence on Saturday I was still feeling the effects of a spectacular night out so even if I wanted to join in the Poznan I don’t think I would’ve been able to.”

Despite Man City’s continued success in the top-flight for over a decade, Gallagher confessed he still feels jittery during matches. “I think there’ll be a certain section of fans who have no nerves,” he said. “But me and the people I go with are from a different era, we’ve always have nerves.

“There’s a younger generation who think we’re just going to walk it and there’s an older generation who are more pessimistic. On Saturday they never looked in any trouble whatsoever. They know what they’re playing for and they’re so relaxed about it.”
