Pleasure Boys return with beefed up safety whereas churchgoers protest

The controversial UK Pleasure Boys naked dance troupe faced a protest as they returned to action after a headline-grabbing show.

More than 700 people swerved a picket by around two dozen members of Moneyslane Free Presbyterian Church at The Bannville Hotel in the town of Banbridge for the return of the group who caused controversy with a show in Belfast a few months back.

Footage from the racy strip show went viral at the time, with videos on X/Twitter showing jacked lads swinging their manhoods about the place.

The picket at the latest venue saw the mainly old-aged congregation hold signs about “the wrath of God” as the group were also labelled “filthy”.

It comes as Pleasure Boys manager John Woodward has said changes will be in place to make sure some of the antics of the infamous Devenish show in February are not repeated.

Speaking to Belfast Live, John said that extra security will be in place for the increased numbers set to attend the gig, signs to encourage no pictures during the show will be erected and attendees can still expect the same cheeky fun as before.

When asked about what is planned for the NI return, John laughed: “The plan is to get naked – but not too much of it.

“We’re all really excited. Everybody’s packed now and pretty much everything’s in place.

“We’ve got documentary crews coming along and extended security to make sure that everyone’s safe and make sure that nobody does things that they’re not supposed to do.”

The Pleasure Boys are currently on a major tour around the UK, performing in Newcastle on Friday before they make their big return to Northern Ireland.

With a bigger crowd set to attend the Banville, around 20 security persons have been drafted in to ensure the event goes at smoothly as possible for both the performers and audience.

The demand for the Pleasure Boys has been “absolutely massive” according to John since their last NI appearance. John has since taken on more guys and more shows and he has seen a spike in attendances.

It comes as a Belfast City Council investigation into the headline-grabbing Pleasure Boys event at The Devenish still hasn’t concluded, three months after the probe began.
