Nightclub broadcasts ‘actual life Martha of Baby Reindeer’ will seem this weekend

A nightclub has come under fire after announcing the woman claiming to be the “real life” Martha Scott from Netflix’s hit series Baby Reindeer will be making a guest appearance.

Kasbah Nightclub in Coventry said in a Facebook post: “She will be signing autographs, taking selfies and she may also take a lucky reindeer home to hang her curtains!” This announcement has sparked outrage from social media users, with one calling it “f***ed up” and another branding it as sheer “stupidity”.

People have slammed the venue for giving the “real life” Baby Reindeer character, Fiona Harvey “exactly what she wants”, while others said Kasbah’s choice to host her is “disappointing and strange”.

A former regular expressed their confusion, saying: “I used to go to Kasbah/Colly twice a week. It’s actually a decent club. I have no idea why they feel like they need to do this.”

The controversial move also has Twitter/X users fuming. One commented: “Glamorising stalking. Am I missing something here or is this seriously messed up? ” Richard Gadd wrote and starred in Baby Reindeer – which is based on his own experience of being stalked – and portrays the character Donny Dunn, while Jessica Gunning plays Martha.

Their relationship takes a turn when she begins to stalk Donny. The character Martha ended up sending Donny more than 41,000 emails, 744 tweets, 100 pages of letters and 350 hours of voicemails.

Fiona Harvey claims to be the inspiration behind Martha and previously opened up in a chat with Piers Morgan on TalkTV. She admitted to having contact with Gadd but insisted it wasn’t nearly as excessive.

She told Piers: “We’ve had no apologies from Netflix or him, nothing. I mean, for someone who says he feels sorry for me, I’ve had no apology.

“My character seems to have smashed up a bar, sexually assaulted him in a canal, been to prison. There are a number of other allegations, and… That’s not true.”

The Kasbah Nightclub has been contacted for comment.
