Brits slam unusual Colin the Caterpillar slicing method as ‘abomination’

Brits have been left absolutely gobsmacked after seeing the “evil” way a Colin the Caterpillar cake was butchered, with some online feeling downright “triggered”.

Snaps circulating on X/Twitter show how a South African boss tackled the beloved choccy delight from Marks & Spencer, opting to dissect the treat lengthways before dishing out smaller portions.

The initial post read: “A scroll of my old photos have reminded me of when my South African boss absolutely massacred a Colin.” And people were quick to vent their fury.

One user shared a clip of Paul Merson on Sky Sports exclaiming: “Bang. See you later, you’re going to prison. You’re going to prison and you’re getting named and shamed.”

Another used a GIF of Marlon Brando as Don Corleone from The Godfather, with the subtitles: “Look how they massacred my boy.” Specsavers chimed in on the shocking tweet, commenting: “If you’re squeamish, look away.” Someone else quipped: “You could say Colin the Caterpillar was butterflyed.”

Another user reckoned the slicing was so appalling that the original tweeter should’ve quit their job then and there. They wrote: “I have never seen something like this for a Colin. So much to discuss here, please tell me you resigned though. It’s worse than those people that cut off the end and the face.”

Some likened it to other sweet treat crimes, with one saying: “Nooooo, this is almost as triggering as when people eat a kitkat by just biting into all 4 fingers.” Another straightforwardly dubbed it: “Evil in plain sight.”

The photographs ignited a discussion about the proper way to slice a Colin. One person asked: “How are you supposed to cut ’em up? So I can avoid inflicting similar trauma, if the situation arises…” The consensus was clear cut – slices should mimic a “swiss roll” format and the head should be served to “the host’s favourite person, or to host themselves”, explained one X user.
