- Tom Heal, from Somerset, mowed ‘marry me’ into a field for his girlfriend to see
- Veterinary nurse Chloe Morley was left in ‘complete shock’ by the gesture
- The happy couple are now busy planning for their wedding next September
A romantic farmer stunned his girlfriend by mowing ‘marry me’ into his field before showing her and popping the question.
Tom Heal, from Somerset, came up with the creative idea of carving the huge letters into the grass to take the next step with his girlfriend of four years.
His now-fiancee, Chloe Morley, said she knew marriage was on the cards, but the ‘mow-prosal’ still came as a ‘complete shock’.
The veterinary nurse was lured down to the field near Hinkley Point in Somerset under the ruse that Mr Heal was working late and had forgotten to bring his dinner with him.
She said that she met him halfway down the track, before walking the rest of the way with him to the field, before she suddenly saw his creative handiwork.

‘Completely shocked’: Long-term girlfriend Chloe Morley said she was surprised by his gesture
Delighted but shocked, Ms Morley said she was left shaking at seeing the words, but it didn’t take her long to say ‘yes’.
She told BBC: [A proposal] has been on the cards for a little while but I haven’t known when, where, how, or anything.
‘I completely was not expecting it at all.’
Jenny Heal, Mr Heal’s aunt, said the family was ‘thrilled and excited’ that her nephew had finally popped the question.
‘We’ve all been hoping and waiting. And he did it in his true fashion,’ she said.
The pair are now busy planning for their wedding next September.
