Dad’s ‘actual meanings’ behind UK street indicators leaves daughter in stitches

Parents often help to teach their children driving theory in preparation for their tests.

However, one cheeky dad opted for an unorthodox approach that has had people laughing. The brains behind @flixableofficial TikTok created a video wherein the daughter, Scarlett, learns from her mischievous dad’s interpretations road signs’ meanings.

He captioned the video: “What road signs really mean. Did Scarlett fail? Find out”, as Scarlett provided valid responses but was met with her dad’s hysterically fake explanations.

In response to the traffic light road sign query, Scarlett offered the correct answer, but her dad insisted it meant “disco” ahead. According to him, “When you’re out and about you’re getting a free disco” adding that such features add a bit of fun to the journey.

Confronted with a ‘skid risk’ sign, Scarlett’s father amusingly suggested it denotes a “dancing zone”. Sceptical, she retorted with: “How can that be dancing? Cars can’t dance”, yet he playfully advised swaying the steering wheel to get the most out of it.

Even though Scarlett accused her dad of “lying”, he strenuously denied that there was a “laughing” matter at hand.

Next, he cheekily suggested that a no-overtaking sign is actually an invitation for “race time”. He quipped, “If you’re in a red car and you see a black car, go for it”, adding that the reverse is also true, but you must “beep your horn” to signal you’re up for the challenge.

He humorously misinterpreted the ’30 with a line through it’ sign, claiming it means that those over 30 “aren’t allowed on it [the road]” – not that it signifies the end of a 30mph zone.

He teased Scarlett for her ‘incorrect’ guesses, saying she “wasn’t taking it seriously” and had “got every single one wrong”, implying she shouldn’t be driving just yet.

In the comments, someone joked Scarlett should never ask her dad for “driver training”, prompting him to respond with plans for a part two of his unconventional lessons. “I failed the test”, another person joked in the comments.
