UK’s first official contact with aliens could be ‘chaotic and dramatic’

If aliens came to the UK, it would be a “chaotic and dramatic” event – with one legendary conspiracy theory-laden spot being the landing area of choice.

The Daily Star has always wondered what would happen should aliens come to our planet. But more specifically, we’ve always pondered how it would play out if they came to good old Blighty.

Well, fear not dear readers, we found a way to see what happens. No, we haven’t invented time travel, we just had a chat with Google’s artificial intelligence-powered large-language model chatbot called Gemini. Formerly named Bard, the bot played out a scenario where an alien arrival was “unexpected” . . . rather than pre-planned, as aliens would obviously do.

And it is the location that surprised us the most. Gemini claims that aliens would choose a remote area to land their otherworldly craft in either the Peak District National Park . . . or Loch Ness.

During a chat in the Daily Star office, we came to the conclusion that Loch Ness would make sense because Nessie is an alien, obviously. But of the actual encounter itself, Gemini told of how it would play out.

It said: “Panic and confusion would likely erupt. Local residents would be the first to witness the arrival, and their reports would trigger a media frenzy. Social media would explode with speculation and theories. The UK Ministry of Defence would activate its response protocols.

“The Royal Air Force would be deployed to investigate and potentially establish a perimeter around the craft. The army would be put on high alert, ready to respond to any perceived threat. Communication would be a major hurdle. Without a common language or established methods of interstellar communication, deciphering the aliens’ intentions would be a monumental task.

“Cryptographers, linguists, and scientists would work tirelessly to analyse any signals or symbols emanating from the craft.”
Gemini went on to claim that there would be three rather big challenges for anyone involved in the potential invasion, and the biggest one involves global politics.

The “key concern,” it stated, would be to figure out what the intentions of the aliens would be, and then to have the United Nations play a central role in figuring out how to mediate.

It added: “In an ideal scenario, communication is established, and the aliens come in peace. This could lead to a momentous exchange of knowledge and a new era of interstellar cooperation. If communication fails or the aliens are perceived as a threat, the situation could escalate. This could lead to a tense stand-off or even a military conflict, with potentially devastating consequences.

“This would be a defining moment in human history. The UK, as the initial point of contact, would be thrust into a global spotlight, forced to grapple with the unknown and make critical decisions that could determine the course of humanity’s future.”
