The dust has settled from an epic fight where two true modern day heavyweight greats battled it out in a very close fight.
One thing for sure is that it was a close decision. There are plenty of people who had it a draw or either fighter winning. It was a split decision to Usyk.
I felt Tyson just nicked it but there’s no cry baby stuff about it. One thing for sure, was it was a great fight between two brave warriors who gave everything.
I had the privilege to see both of them in their dressing room afterwards and I can assure you they knew they had been in a fight. But now the daggers come out from some of the feature writers in this business who over the years that Tyson has said things to.

It’s well documented that Tyson has had his troubles. When he went off the rails, alcohol, substance abuse and he was suicidal.
It resulted in him being diagnosed as bi-polar. Just watch his Netflix series ‘At home with the Furys…’ and you’ll see that. He’s a very intelligent man, but he says what he has got to say. The way it is presented is that every word that comes out of his mouth is a bad thing.
At the end of the Usyk fight, actions spoke louder than words. Look at how many times Tyson kissed and hugged Usyk. That’s respect.
Before the fight there were things said. But is Usyk really going to get upset about being called a ‘middleweight’, a ‘sausage’ or a ‘dosser’.
This is a sport where Mike Tyson once said he wanted to eat Lennox Lewis’ children, Muhammad Ali called a fighter an ‘Uncle Tom’ and even Bernard Hopkins told Joe Calzaghe ‘ain’t no white man going to beat me’.
I’m not an apologist for Tyson Fury but I’m just saying people need to take into consideration that he’s diagnosed with bi-polar.
If you go on the NHS website, it tells you that people with the condition will say things that upset people.
I know about mental health. My younger brother had schizophrenia and committed suicide. That’s why I feel passionate about this.
Now Tyson’s credentials as a fighter is also getting questioned. If you look at what Simon Jordan has said, his perception is that Tyson’s standing in the sport is now lessened.
Lewis getting beaten by Hasim Rahman and Oliver McCall – two defeats he avenged – has that lessened his status as a legend?
Ali getting beaten by Leon Spinks, that didn’t make him a bad fighter. It’s dreadful. Jordan says ‘The fortunate thing for him unlike other sports is he gets the chance to correct the record’
He doesn’t even consider that, after the battles he’s had in and out of the ring, that he might retire? Jordan also has a go at what Tyson says. I’ve explained that already. There’s plenty I’d like to say about Tyson’s detractors. But I have a filter which stops me.
Tyson is a fighting man, he says that but to say he’s now facing the first bit of adversity? First bit of adversity? Did he miss his battle to get back in the ring? His battle with depression, alcohol and drugs? Contemplating suicide? He’s a warrior.
Did he miss Tyson getting up from the floor in the 12th round against Deontay Wilder? Did he miss Tyson’s epic third fight with Wilder which saw him get up TWICE against the biggest hitter in the division?
He’s done that all throughout his career. He’s a top fighter in any generation. The way people are talking, you’d think Usyk wiped the floor with him. It was a very close fight.
If I have to read any more of this nonsense then they’ll be getting called a lot worse than a ‘sausage’ by me.
