A radio station that went viral on Sunday evening have admitted the truth behind the prank call.
Absolute Radio was at the centre of a social media storm after a post went viral on X, formerly known as Twitter. One cheeky football fan had phoned up the station and asked for Joy Division’s smash hit ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart Again’ for his friend Ellan Droad.
The song has been played as the backdrop for Leeds United’s misfortunes down the years – with the Peacocks collapsing in the playoffs yet again on Sunday. However, the radio station have admitted that the clip is actually from last year.

In a post on social media they said: “Sorry to ruin everyone’s fun, but this didn’t happen tonight, the audio is actually from over a year ago, the last time Leeds fell apart. The Request Show returns, next Sunday from 6PM.”
“Lies! We’ve fallen apart a few times since then,” one fan joked. While a second responded: “‘The last time Leeds fell apart,’ what have I just read!”

Leeds’ torrid run at Wembley continued as they were beaten by Southampton in the playoff final. The Saints went into the game having done the double over Leeds during the regular season.
Adam Armstrong netted the only goal of the game, rolling the ball past Illan Meslier – who was between the sticks for Daniel Farke’s side. Leeds quickly ran out of ideas as the clock ticked over the hour mark.
Southampton have now returned to the Premier League at the first time of asking – and they will join Ipswich and Leicester in the top tier next season. Leeds, on the other hand, will have to spend at least one more season away from the glitz and glam of the Prem.
