Leeds United star seen sporting grotesque scar after sickening conflict of heads

Leeds United’s Daniel James was left sporting a gruesome scar across his forehead following the club’s play-off final defeat to Southampton on Sunday.

The Welshman, who entered the fray just after the hour-mark at Wembley, couldn’t prevent Leeds from succumbing to a disappointing loss despite making a positive impact during his brief appearance.

A particularly nasty moment occurred when James clashed heads with Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters, requiring extensive medical attention. Despite this, James soldiered on, even forcing a smart save from Saints’ goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.

Unfortunately for Leeds, an equalising goal never materialised. Despite the disappointment, James managed to smile post-match, albeit with a significant scar on his forehead.

Now, the focus for the winger shifts to international duty as Wales boss Rob Page prepares to announce his squad for upcoming friendlies against Gibraltar and Slovakia, reports Wales Online.

James will have to put the disappointment of Sunday afternoon behind him for the internationals as Leeds will now spend another season in the Championship.

Speaking after the game, Daniel Farke said: “It’s football. In a final, only one team can win so they were able to be effective today and defended really well during the whole game.

“We had more possession, more shots, more expected goals but they defended us really well. We have to congratulate them and wish them all the best in the Premier League next season.

“At this level, when you switch off once you get punished. Armstrong was very effective. We tried everything in the second half with James’ shot hitting the crossbar. Sometimes, it’s not meant to be.

“It was a difficult day for us and a day of suffering but that’s football. You have to get on with it, rest and use the disappointment as motivation for next season.”
