Man broke into Buckingham Palace earlier than claiming he solely needed a wee

A 52-year-old man who broke into Buckingham Palace claimed he did not know where he was and that he was only searching for somewhere to urinate.

Thuraisingham Kumanaraj scaled the gates of the royal residence in August last year and managed to reach the courtyard, according to The Sun.

After setting off the security system at 9:30pm, the Met police took ‘around four minutes’ to arrive at the scene.

When questioned, Kumanaraj claimed he did not know where he was and that he was simply looking for somewhere to urinate.

Officers seized his phone and found he had been searching the internet for Buckingham Palace as well as for several members of the royal family.

Last week Kumanaraj, 52, admitted trespassing on a protected site.

Prosecutor Frances McCormack told Westminster magistrates: ‘He claimed in interview the reason he entered the location was to urinate and denied knowing the site was, in fact, Buckingham Palace.’

Buckingham Palace is the official residence of King Charles III and the opulent property stretches over 39 acres.

There are 775 rooms, 19 staterooms and 78 bathrooms within the royal residence.

A month after breaking into Buckingham Palace, Kumanaraj was caught peeing outside a primary school in London’s Brick Lane.

The 52-year-old then assaulted four cops, punching one of them on the chin and throat.

Two days later, Kumanaraj attempted to steal a woman’s handbag.

He grabbed it from around the victim’s neck, dragging her across the floor outside Epping Station in north London.

Kumanaraj admitted four counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

He denied the charge of attempted theft but was later convicted.

Alongside rehabilitation and a suspended jail term, Kumanaraj is banned from going near protected sites and will wear an electronic tag for six months.
