A model who appeared in Vogue just one month before a pitbull ripped off her upper lip and part of her nose now loves what she sees in the mirror.
Brooklinn Khoury was attacked by her cousin’s incensed dog who ended up “shaking her head like a toy” for 45 seconds back in November 2020.
The 24-year-old professional skateboarder, from Mission Viejo, California, has since spent £313,000 ($400k) on surgeries to reconstruct her face.

She now has more than one million followers on TikTok where she stuns her fans with her inspiring positivity.
In a recent Instagram post, Brooklinn shared a picture taken shortly after she was savaged by the pitbull. The selfie showed her beaten and bruised face with the caption: “How will I ever love what I see in the mirror?”
But she said to “trust the process” and the next photo was a smiling selfie which had the caption: “Trust me, you’ll be fine.”
One person replied: “Followed your story since day one. You are so so strong and incredible. I admire how far you have come and just know you are inspiring people from all over the world.”
Another added: “Girl my heart. And here you are still a beauty inside and out. I cannot imagine the journey, yet your grace shines.”
Brooklinn has been spreading positivity for years and back in 2022 spoke to the Daily Star about how she dealt with cruel comments – like trolls calling her the Grinch.
She turned the negative thoughts into positive actions and in one video she even mimicked the Grinch’s facial expression.
“I know that I look very different, and people are always going to have something to say about that,” she told us.
“So I just try to make the best out of the situation if I can by laughing and responded by making a TikTok of me replicating pictures of both the Grinch and Cat in the Hat.
“I just try not to take those comments too seriously. People are always going to say hurtful things so it’s better to just ignore them if you can.”
Brooklinn has also been targeted by unkind comments in person – including in Disneyland when a man with his family told her she looked like Homer Simpson.
But the young woman has spoken about not striving for physical perfection. She told Good Morning America: “My family, my friends needed to be in my life for a reason, to help me realise there’s so much more to beauty than what meets the eye.”
