Nothing beats the feeling of having luscious, healthy hair.
Admiring your vibrant locks as you strut around town is a thrill unmatched by many. However, it doesn’t always go as planned.
Body positivity advocate Karina Irby unveiled that she had to lay off hair bleaching for a year due to the severe damage it induced on her tresses.
Taking this step wasn’t as daunting as she imagined – and the rewards were very beneficial. Since stepping away from the bleach, her hair now exudes vitality, shine and sleekness.

Karina gave fans a glimpse of her hair transformation via before-and-after pictures posted on Instagram, leaving them amazed at the contrasting difference.
In the post, Karina said: “I never broke up with my hairdresser… BUT…I almost had a year off bleaching and colouring my hair and it wasn’t as hard as I thought. If you watch my stories you’d see how hard I’ve been working on getting my hair health better. And taking time away from heat and chemicals has been life changing for it!
“Along with using good products and doing consistent hair masks and treatments, oils etc. Today I said bub-bye to my clean streak and got the works! The blonde is back baby!”
Currently, her locks appear strikingly radiant, lustrous and silky. Since the time she shared the post, more than 9,000 people have liked it and left positive comments.
They’ve been gushing over her, calling her “stunning”. One admirer gushed: “The hair is STUNNING! Also, as a girl with big hips & a small waist, I am begging for details on these jeans!”
Another chimed in: “STUNNING! Absolute hair slay. My hairdresser insides are screaming YES.”
Someone else added: “It looks really good! Having blonde hair is hard! I want foils again but they immediately totally destroy my hair. I’m at the point where I just have to cut it all off.”
A fourth also noted: “Lovely and fresh. Mermaid vibes.”
If you’re fretting about your hair’s wellbeing, it turns out a dead simple routine might be wreaking havoc. Earlier this year, a hair guru spilled the beans on where people muck up while shampooing their tresses, and one blunder is bound to catch you off guard.
Dendy Engelman, a top-notch cosmetic dermatologist and surgeon known worldwide, dished out that using scorching hot water on your barnet can sap your scalp dry, leading to some proper annoying itchiness. It can also rid the natural oils from each strand, leaving your hair not quite living up to expectations.
“The state of the scalp has an enormous impact on hair growth and health, so a dry, unhealthy scalp with dandruff can inhibit hair growth or weaken the strands,” he told Byrdie.com.
This suggests that washing your hair with cold water could be beneficial. Not only does it help to maintain your natural oils, but it also makes your hair shinier by closing the pores on your scalp and retaining the moisture in your hair.
