A UK disaster prepper has revealed a very real danger from fellow nuclear fallout survivors when they become “desperate”.
Leigh Price owns and runs Bug Out in Builth Wells in the Welsh Wye Valley. It is a prepper store that sells everything one might need in the event of a catastrophic event like armed conflict or nuclear war.
And with “war drums beating” Leigh told the Daily Star that people have been flocking to his store and signing up to the specialised survival courses he runs.

He added in a recent chat that the main danger following a nuclear fallout is actually fellow survivors.
Leigh said staying inside for two weeks following a nuclear blast is the “easy bit” and added: “After that you will have to deal with desperate people looking for food, shelter and water – and desperate people do desperate things, especially if they have family to care for.
“In this case you will need to defend yourself or Bug Out.”
Bug Out in this context means to flee because of imminent danger. However, a Bug Out bag – which many disaster preppers have – is a collection of essential items useful for surviving a disaster.
A new Government campaign told Brits what they’d need in the event of various disasters earlier this month.
Wind-up torches, tinned foods and bottles of water are among the vital items you’ll need to make it through a biosecurity crisis, flood, prolonged power outage or another pandemic at home, according to the new list at prepare.campaign.gov.uk. And don’t forget to pack plenty of batteries.
Leigh, surveying the list, told the Star what he would add. He said: “The only things I would add really is having a go bag or Bug Out bag ready with all the essential supplies, just in case you had to leave your location due to a threat or disaster of some kind.”
He added: “The list pretty much covers everything as you need clean safe water, food, shelter to keep yourself warm and dry, medical supplies a way to see in the dark, and communication equipment.”
However, he said the list is lacking when it comes to prepping for a nuclear emergency.
“If there was a nuclear threat imminent then you will need a lot more of the above list, plus if you are in a likely targeted area you will need to vacate.
“Plus if you are in an area which will be affected by fallout then you will need to have all the supplies and the ability to seal all your windows and doors from the outside and stay indoors for at least two weeks,” he said.
“Always have a plan B and a Bug Out bag ready just in case.
“It’s better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it!”
