Almost as soon as Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced a General Election will be held in July, social media was plastered with memes – from the ‘soggy Sunak’ announcement speech to the UK Labour Party making mocking videos on TikTok.
But one app Brits didn’t see coming on the campaign list was the popular dating app Tinder. One Brit has gone viral after he claimed the Conservative Party took their campaign a step too far after he received a suspicious like on the app.
Oliver, who posts on X under the username @Pyrrrhos, was left baffled when he got a notification from Tinder informing him he had a new admirer. The notification said: “Rishi just liked you! Act fast to see if they’re a match.”

The lad then took to the social media app, which was formerly known as Twitter, joking the like was a new campaign tactic from the current occupier of 10 Downing Street. He quipped: “This campaign outreach has gone too far.”
While it is far more likely to be someone with the same name, people online thought the quip was hilarious. It quickly racked up more than 36,000 likes as users rushed to the replies to make their own jokes about the situation.
One user joked: “Bro will do anything for a vote.” Another quipped: “Not another eat out to help out campaign, surely.”
A third commented: “Rishi being kinda rushy.” Meanwhile, a fourth wrote: “I actually feel sorry for any guy in the uk called Rishi now.”

Addressing the nation, the PM braved the rain as he stated: “Now is the moment for Britain to choose its future.”

The announcement sparked many viral memes and moans, but among all of them a cheeky new term for the general election was coined by playful Brits, which has left many people divide.
So, what’s this new term? Well after the Cozzie Livs and the Platty Jubes, we now have…. the Genny Lex. While some are embracing it, others have confessed it’s made them ‘feel sick’.
