Woman, 20, accused of being with wealthy fiance, 55, for cash says ‘I’m no consumer’

A 20-year-old woman has revealed that she is often accused of being with her 55-year-old property developer fiance for his money, as she is a stay-at-home girlfriend.

Nicole Jones met Shahin Farjami on a night out in London in February 2023 when she was just 18 and he was 54.

Despite their significant age gap, the pair quickly fell in love and got engaged in October 2023, just eight months after they first met. They insist that their ‘strong connection’ is more important than their age difference, which they say is ‘just a number’.

Both families have accepted their relationship, although Shahin admitted that two of his four children, who are older than Nicole, were initially ‘shocked’ by the news. Nicole, who is frequently accused of being with Shahin for his wealth, says such comments make her feel ‘weird’.

The couple have taken to TikTok to document their unconventional relationship and show there’s ‘a lot more to it’ than their age difference. One viral post, captioned ‘I’m glad we didn’t meet sooner’, shows the couple during the 2000s and has racked up 50,000 views.

The post features a photo of Shahin at one of his children’s graduation ceremonies, followed by a picture of Nicole as a baby.

Nicole confessed that she has often been attracted to older men in the past due to their life experience, so she ‘wasn’t thrown off’ when Shahin first approached her.

Living with Shahin in Reigate, Surrey, Nicole said: “I’m quite open-minded. I wasn’t thrown off by him. I was speaking to him like normal. Our chat was flowing and it was really good. He suggested meeting up the next day and we did.

“My friends weren’t even surprised by it either because they know age isn’t a thing for me. In my past relationships the man has usually been older.

“Older men are much more experienced in life and I like that. They’re at the stage in life that they want to settle down and don’t want the party phase.”

She confessed that she often faces comments accusing her of using Shahin for his money and labelling him as her father, which makes her feel ‘weird’. However, the couple have learned to ‘laugh it off’.

Nicole stated: “It makes me feel weird. I’m not a user. I’m not going to use someone for my own benefit. It also makes me want to prove to people that I’m not with him for the money because it makes me look bad.

“We don’t really care what people have to say or think. The comments don’t really get to us so it’s not going to get in between us or break us down.”

Despite initial concerns from Nicole’s mum, the young woman revealed that her family has been very accepting of her relationship.

The successful property developer shared that their connection is rooted in a mutual love for food and fitness, as well as enjoying being ‘silly’ together and exploring the world, having already visited places like Milan, Marrakech, and the Maldives.

Shahin explained: “People question that, how do I, as a more mature guy, have anything in common with a young girl but she’s quite an old soul and I’m a bit of an idiot really.

“We feel connected. We both feel there’s a strong connection there. It felt very natural very quickly.”

The pair say they are happy to draw attention to their age-gap on TikTok to normalise their relationship and help to spread awareness to others.
