Toby Carvery brown flood sees individuals declare ‘somebody overdid it with the gravy’

A flood surrounding a Toby Carvery has caused a stir on social media as people claim the brown liquid outside the restaurant is gravy.

The humorous theory was shared on the No Context Brits X (formerly Twitter) page, with a photo of the incident captioned: “Someone overdone it with the gravy.” Other users were quick to respond with similar jokes.

One person quipped: “That’s why you gotta look when you pour!!”. A second joked about the need for more sauce, claiming: “No such thing as overdoing gravy… or cheese, or marinara sauce, mmmm.”

Meanwhile another user said: “Nonsense. This is almost enough gravy.” And it wasn’t just these diners who got in on the joke. One wrote: “You can never overdo it with gravy, that’s what spoons are for.”

Another chimed in: “Keep pouring please.”

Others speculated the ‘gravy’ spillage could have been the result of another foodstuff failing to do its job. One person said: “Nah, their Yorkshire pudding split at inopportune moment, that’s all.”

One observer quipped: “Love to see the size of the Yorkshire pud. Might not need the main course after that.” Meanwhile, others were busy picking out their favourite elements of the roast dinner and suggesting a mass gathering.

“That’s just enough gravy,” one penned. “Now to get the Yorkshire puddings and dip!”.

It is thought the flooding, which was more likely caused by rainwater, took place in December 2020 outside a branch of the eatery in Highnam, Gloucestershire. At the time, the restaurant posted to Facebook: “Dear guests, unfortunately due to the flooding we will be closed until further notice. If you have any bookings with us on Christmas Day we will contact you tomorrow.”

This was accompanied by a photo of the flooded restaurant.
