Chaotic scenes from a boozy pub session have left the internet in raptures – but one person has captured more attention than others.
The Half Moon Inn in Wreckenton, Gateshead, had a big weekend, that saw people dancing on the tables, pounding music, and lots of Newcastle United tops. The Magpie stronghold is just a short drive from Newcastle and was the scene of the hectic evening that saw the thumping baseline of a remix of Amy McDonald’s This Is The Life fill the bar.
But amid the high-tempo dancing, one man sits quietly sipping on his pint. Also in his Newcastle shirt, he he sits watching on, a slight smile on his face, an oasis of tranquillity amid a tempestuous sea.

And it seems plenty of people have taken notice of this too. “Love the guy sitting down in the tracksuit top casually drinking his pint like this is the norm here,” one person wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
A second commented: “Poor gadgy [sic] sitting there wanting a quiet pint looks fewmin [sic]. Someone please drop him a disco biscuit in that pint.”
But it wasn’t only the quiet man people were enjoying, but also the pub itself and the kind of party it threw.
People flocked to the comments section of the posts, which have been viewed over half a million times, to express their sense of nostalgia for public house parties such as this.
“Half Moon Wrecka, pint and a pill please,” one person said. “We need to see more pubs like this. Love to see it. A lost vibe,” added another.
People were generally appreciative of the free nature of the evening, with one saying: “Nowt wrong with letting your hair down, wish I was there haha”.
One unverified comment claimed: “Apparently this was 8.00am” while another fan chipped in, “God’s country the mighty wreka.”
Not everyone was a fan, however, with one person writing: “I once had half an hour to wait at the bus stop outside there, so I went in for a pint. It was like a scene from a Western when the stranger walks in and the pianist stops. I got my pint and was outside again five minutes later”.
