Vinted parcel delivered in ‘used nappy’ as shopper left outraged by odor

A Vinted shopper has shared her horror experience after a shirt she bought appeared to be delivered in a soiled nappy.

The unidentified customer said she was left “retching” and asked for a refund on the £3 black ASOS crop top. Screenshots of the resulting exchange between the buyer and seller were posted to X (formerly Twitter) after being posted to the page DM Drama.

One set of texts read: “The top has arrived in a used nappy?????? It’s absolutely covered in s***. This is DISGUSTING. What are you playing at. It absolutely stinks I am wretching. I’ve had to throw the top out it’s absolute covered in s***. Do you think it’s acceptable to send items like this? I’ve used vinted for 4 years and never once had a problem whatsoever.”

The sender initially claimed they packaged the crop top in a clean nappy for the buyer to reuse. They responded: “I sent it in a clean nappy and nappy bag to recycle and repurpose it? It’s not a used nappy? It would have been clean.

“I just sent it in that to protect the top it’s the only thing I had as you wanted it posted asap. Could you send photos? I’m sorry it’s just very very hard to believe.” In response, the disgruntled shopper attached a photo of the reported mishap, adding: “Enough photo evidence?”.

The seller responded: “I seriously thought it was clean I didn’t even check it was 7am and I was packing it in dark as husband was asleep didn’t want to wake him. I’m would never send it like that knowingly. My husband must have put the used one back in the nappy packaging as we do that so we know when it’s time to stock back up I am so sorry. Is there any way you could clean it the wash maybe? Or soak it.”

But this suggestion only made the buyer more frustrated. “You are joking right???” they said. “I spent £3 on this don’t expect to even have to wash it when it’s covered in s**t.” The seller offered to “happily pay for it to be dry cleaned” but instead, the buyer demanded a refund.

The buyer insisted: “There’s absolutely no way on earth I am going near that top it’s in the bin. Refund me now.” However, the shared screenshots revealed the buyer did not get a response. It is unclear whether the customer ever got their money back.

Users were quick to comment on the reported incident. One person commented: “Ooft, that’s a bit s***.” Another added: “Even sending clothes in clean Nappies is wild enough and just plain weird lol. Like don’t sell stuff if you’ve not got appropriate packing materials?”.
