Brother of needed ‘Viking stomper’ breaks silence over the place he could be hiding

The brother of the infamous “Viking stomper” who absconded from prison over two weeks ago has broken his silence on where he might be hiding.

The gangland leader, Daniel Gee, is most notorious for conspiring to buy guns and kill a teenager. In 2010 he was put behind bars for an indefinite sentence with a minimum of four years behind bars at Kirklevington Grange – a category D open prison in the north east.

True crime podcaster Billy Moore described the gangster as “a big Viking stomper who would just wreck you. I would be very, very wary of him. He’s been away for a long time.”

Daniel used to run Everton’s Grizedale estate with his younger brother, Darren Gee. The pair of them turned the estate into a drug-dealing zone under their control. Darren has also been in and out of prisons since he was a juvenile, but has since reformed and is an active anti-knife campaigner and true crime expert, the Liverpool Echo reports.

However, blood remains thicker than podcasting, and he said on air that he hopes his brother is safe after his prison break.

He claimed not to know exactly where his brother is, but said on an episode of the Criminal Connection podcast: “[Daniel] has absconded in the last few days. I am hoping it’s a planned abscond. If it’s an emotional abscond, it’s going to go wrong. If it’s planned then hopefully he is out the country.”

He said his big brother is extremely strong and powerful. These are sentiments echoed by the judge who sentenced him back in 2010, who said “I am in no doubt that the public must be protected from you in the future. I really do not know when it will be safe to release you.”

Daniel was last seen boarding a train to Middlesborough at the James Cook train station, but police have failed to track him further than that. He was wearing a pale blue t-shirt, black Adidas tracksuit bottoms with white stripes down both legs and a beige hat. He was also carrying a JD bag which was likely to have a black hoodie inside it.

Police say given his connections to the criminal underworld in the north of England and Scotland, it is likely he has already left the country.
