AI outlines components that resolve who wins between Serb ultras and English followers

German police are on high alert ahead of England’s opening Euro 2024 clash with Serbia on Sunday (June 16).

According to reports, between 400 and 500 Serbian ultras are set to descend on Gelsenkirchen for the weekend’s encounter. And Daily Star Sport has asked AI, in the form of ChatGPT, who would win if they battled English hooligans.

“Predicting the outcome of a hypothetical fight between Serbian ultras and English football fans involves numerous variables,” ChatGPT outlined. “Including the specific groups involved, their numbers, organisation, and context of the encounter.”

AI has noted six factors that would determines the winner of a hypothetical bout. The first being tactics, it said: “Serbian ultras are known for their high level of organisation and coordination.

“Groups like Delije (Red Star Belgrade fans) and Grobari (Partizan Belgrade fans) have a reputation for being highly disciplined and strategic in their actions.

“English football fans, particularly the hardcore ‘hooligan’ element, also have a history of organised groups, but the level of organisation can vary significantly among different groups.” While the second factor would be aggression – with both sides having a history of engaging in violence.

“The outcome of any physical confrontation would depend heavily on the number of participants from each side,” it added – pointing out the winner would have larger numbers.

The environment would also play a key role, AI noted: “Home turf advantage can boost morale and provide logistical advantages such as knowledge of the terrain and support from local fans.”

However, there was one factor that reigned above all else: “The presence and effectiveness of law enforcement could also be a critical factor.

“In recent years, police forces in both Serbia and the UK have become more adept at handling football-related violence, which could prevent any large-scale conflict from occurring or escalating.”

AI also said that historical context could determine the winner – with “specific matches or events with heightened tensions could lead to more intense and aggressive encounters.”

Unfortunately, AI couldn’t – or wouldn’t – predict an outright winner: “In summary, while it’s impossible to definitively predict the outcome of such a hypothetical fight.

“Both Serbian ultras and English football fans have distinct characteristics and histories that would influence the encounter.”
