Woman floored after listening to ‘unusual noises’ exterior residence and checking backyard

A Scottish woman was left gobsmacked after checking out the “strange noises” coming from her front garden.

Taking to Reddit to share a pic of the bizarre scene, which featured scores of ducks having a field day on her lawn, she penned: “Heard strange noises. Opened my front door to be confronted by this. I do not and never have owned ducks.”

“You might have an infestation of crane flies, chinch worms, or some other insect,” one user chimed in, trying to crack the mystery. “We have crows visit our lawn sometimes when we have lawn bugs.”

“Probably due to the flooded road you’ve got there bud. Real weird,” another piped up, prompting the original poster to reply: “This is Scotland. That’s not flooded that’s a tiny shower. Totally normal haha.”

Another Redditor added: “Looks like your lawn is wet. Those ducks were probably flying low and saw something appealing in your yard. They will take off soon. I have geese that stop over in my field on their way to the lake. One bit my little dog and she has never forgiven the geese for it and now she barks and barks at every goods and we have tons of them in our neck of the woods.”

And a fourth chimed in: “Mallards. They tend to migrate in packs and forage for the bugs in your yard. Most likely, they’re either wild and you’re close to their water source, or you have a neighbour that didn’t know they can fly. If it’s the first, they’ll visit, eat bugs, and move on. If the second they’ll visit regularly and move on. They tend not to damage anything unless maybe a potted plant or so left unattended.”

Meanwhile, some cheeky users couldn’t help but poke fun at the situation, with one quipping: “The universal cat distribution system is pivoting into new markets but there are some kinks to work out.” Another joker added: “Well sorry to say but it seems they want to be yours, you are their true leader. Quack quack.”

And a third couldn’t resist commenting: “There’s enough ducks there to keep you in Peking style shredded duck, hoisin, spring onion, with cucumber logs for about 2 years… Well done!”

The woman later updated her post with a reply, joking: “I’ll maybe just keep one…”
