‘Nervous’ Prince George takes on ‘large accountability’ at Trooping the Colour

Prince George has taken a big leap at today’s Trooping the Colour celebrations, according to an expert.

The prince, 10, appeared on the balcony at Buckingham Palace alongside his parents, Kate Middleton and Prince William, siblings Charlotte and Louis, nine and six respectively, as well as grandfather King Charles and Queen Camilla. The young future King was even the first of his immediate family to step out onto Buckingham Palace’s famous balcony.

And one body language expert reckons this might account for some “nervous” behaviour. Speaking to Daily Star, Inbaal Honigman said: “Prince George covers his face with his hands initially, which is a show of nervousness.

“He’s the first one of his immediate family to walk onto the balcony, which is a big responsibility, and so his nervous body language is not a surprise.”

George’s brave action was then quickly mimicked by his little brother. “Moments later, Prince Louis copies the exact same gesture,” Honigman added.

“This might be the youngster’s own nerves, or it could be his admiration of his eldest sibling which moves him to copy the future King’s gestures. Prince Louis starts shuffling towards the end of their time on the balcony, showing that he’s getting bored.”

Princess Charlotte, who was dressed in a stunning white outfit matching the Princess of Wales’ ensemble, shares a “close bond” with her mother – and this was evident during today’s festivities, according to Honigman. “Princess Charlotte follows her mother’s facial expressions closely, looking directly up at her and gives all her attention to Catherine.

“As the two stand one behind the other, the daughter copies her mother’s pose exactly. Square shoulders, raised head, and hands lightly linked in front of her body. The young Princess is adopting the mature Princess’s body language, which speaks to their close bond.”

Meanwhile, despite a difficult year so far, Kate Middleton appeared to be enjoying her first official outing since being diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer. “Her interactions with those around her are very calm and her smile is peaceful and happy,” Honigman said. “Catherine’s facial expressions, with toothy smiles and upwards glances, show her to be delighted.

“She’s not touching anyone, which is unusual for her, again showing how the way she’s presenting herself is more considered and thought out. We see Catherine nodding while chatting, which suggests she’s in a positive, upbeat mood.”
