Spotify users have been baffled with one artist gatecrashing their jam sesh no matter what tunes they’re listening to.
‘Espresso’ songmaker, Sabrina Carpenter, keeps popping up in listeners’ smart shuffles. So much so that it’s driving some Spotify users to take drastic measures by hitting the mute button on her profile.
Twitter/X users listening to their favourite tracks have reported being hit with a dose of Sabrina’s tunes Espresso or Please Please Please out of nowhere. Social media users have since vented their anger about about what many reckon could be the next viral “summer bop”.

A music fan told X: “I’ve muted her on Spotify. I like her but don’t want her in my 2024 wrapped.” Others are nixing Sabrina from their Spotify life by silencing her sounds. Despite their sneaky manoeuvres, some find Sabrina’s tracks are still stubbornly sticking around.
They shared their own tech trouble with other artists too, adding: “I’ve muted Taylor Swift and Spotify just does not care and keeps playing her.” Reddit users are equally peeved by the relentless pop interruptions.
One user grumbled: “That song is on auto play no matter what genre of music I play. I have never listened to her, I don’t listen to music like hers. Streaming platforms are a joke and these charts seem meaningless.”
Scores are kicking off about algorithm suggestions pushing Sabrina, with a hefty 70million monthly listeners and a whopping 580million streams for her banger, Espresso. But it seems the tune is not for everyone as they fume at the “heavily autoplayed” song.
Even giving it a thumbs-down doesn’t banish it from their playlists, as it keeps popping up like an unwanted earworm. One frustrated user moaned: “I’ve specifically clicked the minus button, whatever it’s called, to remove it from my autoplay, and it’s still coning on constantly lol.”
Echoing this sentiment, another chimed in: “Me too! I keep trying to hide this song but it keeps haunting me like an annoying ghost.”
With Espresso nicking Taylor Swift’s Fortnights spot in the Top 50 Spotify singles roundup, it’s no wonder it’s shoved in people’s faces more often as a top track recommendation.
