Kobbie Mainoo has backed Manchester United’s decision to spare Erik ten Hag the sack.
Ten Hag has escaped the axe – despite presiding over United’s worst season in Premier League history. United finished eighth in the table with a negative goal difference, and crashed out of the Champions League at the group stages.
United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his fellow INEOS bosses conducted a review into Ten Hag’s performance. And United bosses decided to keep the Dutchman, after watching him lead his side to FA Cup glory at Wembley.

Ten Hag could even sign a new deal, but is still in talks with the club. Mainoo is pleased Ten Hag will still be in charge next season – and believes he will win more trophies.
And the midfielder admits he wouldn’t be part of England’s Euro 2024 squad in Germany if it wasn’t for him. The Three Lions star said: “I am happy to keep building with him. He has won two trophies and there are more to come.
“It is nice to have the peace of mind that we know which manager we are going back to for pre-season. There was always a lot of speculation in the media about what would happen and such, but I tried not to pay attention to it too much and just play each game as it came.
“And then it’s nice to find out that he’s staying, and we can continue building with him and hopefully win more. I am so grateful to him that he put his trust in me, and believed in me to play in the team. I can’t thank him enough.”
Mainoo, who will be hoping to start England’s second Group C game against Denmark in Frankfurt on Thursday, believes Ten Hag and his staff have helped his game mature. Mainoo added: “He’s given me tips on how he wants me to play.
“I came into the team and he gave me instructions on how he wants me and the team to play, and what my role is. Him and all of his staff have helped me a lot.”
