Getting a round at the pub may become a habit for the flushed only, as the potentially astronomical price for a pint in 2040 has been revealed.
In a sobering prediction, the price of a pint could rocket to £25 by 2040, a study has crushingly forecasted.
The average cost of a larger has shot up by 11% this year, to £4.69. If this rate is maintained annually, then a thirst-quenching brew could set you back a whopping £25.70 in 16 years time, research by fruityslots.com reveals. The study used data from the Office for National Statistics.

The prospect of forking out such a sum for a brew, has left beer lovers contemplating their drinking habits.

Tom Porter, 44, of Berkhamstead, Herts, told The Sun he still thought it “amazing” that some pubs ask for more than a fiver for a pint.
He said: “I’m only just getting my head round paying £5 for a pint.
“If it gets to a tenner that’s bad enough – I’ll certainly not be getting the rounds in – and if it gets to £25-a-pint I’m going teetotal.”

The pint price rise has been put down to the spike in energy costs, triggered by Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, supply chain issues and rising inflation, reports The Express.
Last year, TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson, who brews Hawkestone larger, linked the surging prices of beer to poor barley crops.
He jokingly warned at the time: “That’s going to make a pint of lager cost more than a medium-sized hatchback.”

This year’s winter barley yields were down by 22%, The Express also reports.
James Rosen, of FruitySlots, said: “The study provides insight into the costs faced by patrons today and potentially in the future.”
This miserable prediction comes as pub closures jumped by 51% in the first three months of 2024, with 80 pubs shut their doors for good, each month.
