Jay Slater search focuses on ravine near the place lacking Brit final phoned buddies

The search for missing Brit teen Jay Slater is set to move location to the area where he last called a friend before his phone died.

Officers from the Civil Guard, the police force leading the search, were seen using binoculars looking over the dangerous landscape close to the small village of Masca and the remote area where the 19-year-old’s phone last ‘pinged’

The 19-year-old had gone to the Canary Islands with friends for the New Rave Generation music festival last week. On Sunday, June 16, the apprentice bricklayer from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, left the festival and he hasn’t been heard from since around 8.15am the next day.

On Monday morning, Jay tried to trek back to the south of the island and rang his friend Lucy Mae Law to tell her his phone battery was down to 1% – he disappeared shortly after, with local police taking on the huge search.

And now the search is moving to the area where he made that phone call.

A Civil Guard spokesman said: “There is a research on going and the police operation is focused on the area of Masca (Tenerife). By now we can not confirm any more information.”
