A survey by Paddy Power found 88% of the nation would take a smaller everyday item without asking – with Gen Z the worst offenders.
Around 24 million people (36%) admitted to taking mini shower gels, shampoos, and soaps from their hotel rooms.
The poll, carried out ahead of launching their brand-new exclusive gameshow, Paddy’s Mansion Heist, revealed condiment bottles and sachets from restaurants (27%) and sugar or sweetener (26%), were the next most popular things pinched.
Some of the more obscure items to take were dressing gowns from a hotel (15%), ashtrays (12%), and a whopping 5.4m (8%) confess to cashing helping themselves to spare change their family and friends left lying around.
Those in Brighton and Aberdeen were the most likely to ‘borrow’ without asking, with 31% owning up.
Rachael Kane, Paddy Power spokesperson said: “For those Brits who like to indulge in ‘borrowing’ without permission, head to our brand-new, exclusive gameshow, Paddy’s Mansion Heist, where you’ll be invited to pull off the ultimate heist worth up to a maximum of 4,000x the value of your stake.”
