Princess Anne rushed to hospital after struggling accidents and concussion

Princess Anne has suffered ‘minor injuries’ and a concussion in an ‘incident’ at Gatcombe Park estate thought to have involved a horse.

“Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and swift recovery.

“The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery.”

It is understood the princess was walking within the protected perimeter of Gatcombe Park estate when an incident occurred.
She has suffered minor wounds to the head.

The exact cause of the injuries is unconfirmed, but Anne’s medical team have said that her head injuries were consistent with a potential impact from a horse’s head or legs.

Emergency services were despatched to the estate and, the princess received medical care at the scene.

She was transferred to Southmead Hospital for tests, treatment and observation, and was accompanied by her husband Vice Admiral Tim Laurence.

Gatcombe Park is a country house between the villages of Minchinhampton (to which it belongs) and Avening in Gloucestershire, and it has been the country home of Princess Anne since 1976.

The 700-acre estate features a main building which is a Grade II listed home. This is where Princess Anne resides with her husband.

Also within the estate is several other royal homes – one of which is occupied by Zara and Mike Tindall and their children Mia, Lena and Lucas. Mike and Zara when they sold their Cheltenham home and went to live on the Gatcombe estate in 2013, just before welcoming their first child, Mia.

The estate is a convenient place for the Tindall family, with equestrian Zara having many of her horses stabled there, the Express reported.

Princess Anne, of course, is fond of horses, too. She had a glittering equestrian career — which includes a European championship individual gold medal as well as an Olympic appearance.

Just last week she was hailed as “outstanding” by viewers of Trooping the Colour when she successfully managed to control her misbehaving horse during the procession.

Princess Anne’s son Peter Phillips also lives within the grounds of the estate, along with his daughters Isla and Savannah. Gatcombe was bought privately by the Queen for the Princess Royal and her then-husband Captain Mark Phillips in 1976.
