Pizza-making Mum left with mullet after her hair bought caught in an electrical whisk

A mum got an unexpected new hair do after she became “distracted” whilst cooking.

Natalie Walker found herself sporting a mullet after her long locks wrapped around an electric whisk as she tried to make pizza dough. The 38-year-old from Preston, Lancashire, had to cut her elbow-length mane from the whisk blades, leaving her with tufts.

The full-time mum-of-two recalled: “I had my phone propped up making pizza dough, I was kneading it by hand but I wasn’t kneading properly with my hands so I got the whisk.

“Something distracted me for a second and the next thing, my hair was caught in it. I was like ‘this can’t be happening!’.

Natalie is now tossing up whether to cut her hair even shorter, into a pixie cut, so she can loose the mullet, often described as a party at the back, business up the top.

Natalie said: “It’s very very slowly growing back, but it was long and blonde before, now it’s just tufts. I wear a hair clip to try and hide the tufts.” She posted clips of the mishap to TikTok, which have nearly 10 million views. Natalie said the video “went mental” and made her a local celebrity and recognisable everywhere she goes.

The mum said she is stopped whenever she leaves the house, with people asking her if she is “the girl who got her hair caught in a whisk”. She said: “I have had a fair few people each week who say ‘are you the girl who got her hair caught in a whisk?’. I’ve been stopped on the bus before too. “I say yes it is me – and people ask me questions like if it was painful.

“But I can have a laugh about it – I don’t mind when they come up to me. I can’t seem to walk anywhere without someone saying something now.”

Natalie said she hasn’t touched her electric whisk since the incident and swears she’ll be sticking with a hand whisk from now on.
