Election outcomes occasions in full – when Farage and Sunak’s seats will declare

Whether you’re planning an all-nighter or setting your alarm for the early hours of Friday July 5, we’ve got you covered – because there’s nothing so thrilling as watching some stressed council workers tip ballot boxes onto trestle tables at 3am.

Hopefully you’ve already planned your election night snacks, and your telly is ready for a total bombardment of John Curtice (you can read the election TV coverage in full here). But what time will each of the 650 constituencies be declaring their results? Read on, Macduff…

Nigel Farage – Clacton, Essex

The seaside town of Clacton is expected to declare its result around 4am on Friday. A Survation poll, paid for by Aaron Banks – a major donor to Farage’s old UKIP party – found Farage is on course to win the seat with an enormous 43.5% swing from the Conservatives to Reform. It was the only seat to return a UKIP MP in 2015 – Douglas Carswell, who had defected from the Tories – and was then re-won by the Conservatives in Theresa May’s snap 2017 election.

Tory MP Giles Watling has held the seat since then, returning a majority of nearly 25,000 in 2019. But according to the Survation poll, half of those voters are now placing their X in Farage’s box. Farage also faces competition from Labour’s Jovan Owusu-Nepaul, dubbed the most stylish man in politics, although the party were forced to deny quietly withdrawing him from the battleground and sending him to the West Midlands to campaign there.

Rishi Sunak – Richard and Northallerton, North Yorkshire

If the worst polls are correct, the Prime Minister could actually lose control of his own seat at around 4am on Friday. According to the brutal MRP poll of June 26, Sunak and 20 of his Cabinet members could all be kicked out of their seats with the Tory party in tatters with just 60 MPs.

If this comes true, Sunak will have wiped out his previous majority of 24,331. Challenging his seat are Labour’s Tom Wilson, Count Binface of the Count Binface Party, and a Reform UK candidate called Lee Taylor.

Keir Starmer – Holborn and St Pancras, London

The Labour leader – widely expected to be named the new PM on Friday – is likely to hear how well his constituents enjoyed his campaign at 4.15am on Friday. Keir has held the north London seat since arriving in Parliament in 2015, and has a current majority of 36,641 – it’s considered to be 77th in the party’s list of safe seats.

Jeremy Corbyn – Islington North, London

All eyes will be on Islington North from 3am on Friday, when it’ll become clear how the constituents who gave Jeremy Corbyn his majority since 1983 have voted. The former Labour leader – whose seat borders his successor Keir Starmer’s – was kicked out of the party over comments he made addressing antisemitism complaints.

While some Labour canvassers quit the party to support Corbyn standing as an independent, the polling shows the Labour candidate Praful Nargund on 43% against Corbyn on 29%.
