Channelling Barack Obama, Labour leader Keir Starmer’s message of hope will inspire disillusioned voters.
Britain doesn’t have to be broken, families struggling to make ends meet as child poverty soars. Public services don’t have to struggle to survive while entitled Conservatives place bets on the date of the “surprise” election.
There is a better country possible, a nation where living standards improve and the NHS, schools, courts and the rest of a civilised
society’s infrastructure operates properly.
Starmer is his own hardest taskmaster, a politician from a working-class home whose mission is to improve the lives of those he serves. We’re confident that he would roll up his sleeves and get stuck in, putting in one hell of a shift in Downing Street.
The despised Conservatives know that too, which is why they smear him, terrified that in high office Starmer will demonstrate by his actions how inept, incompetent, useless, venal, corrupt and sleazy the Tories have been for the past 14 miserable years.
Stop the hurt
Another guilty verdict against serial killer nurse Lucy Letby hopefully means the end of conspiracy theorists wrongly claiming she is innocent.
The hurt these crackpot theories cause to parents of Letby’s victims is cruel and pointless. Unfortunately we live in an era when the clueless can network online, ignoring facts and conjuring wild theories out of nowhere.
Letby, found guilty of attempted murder in a retrial, was chilling in her lack of emotion. Hopefully justice is a little comfort to those she so callously robbed of their happiness.
Jet behind ‘em
England’s Wags flew into Germany to give the players a much needed boost ahead of Saturday’s crunch Euros game. Using private planes is way beyond most of us – although if we had the cash some of us may be tempted too – but if it helps the Three Lions land the trophy we’ll all be flying high.
