‘Change will solely come if you happen to vote Labour at the moment’

This election is a huge moment of choice for our country. Five more years of the Tories or change with Labour?

Over the past six weeks the arguments have been rehearsed. It is now time to choose, and the power of that choice lies, rightly, with the British public.

If the Tories win again, nothing will change. The reckless economics which gave us the disastrous Liz Truss mini-Budget and the desperate unfunded Tory manifesto will mean more chaos for the British people.

Our NHS, which is on its knees, will be robbed of hope. And the one rule for them entitlement which gave us Partygate, dodgy covid contracts and the insider betting scandal will just carry on.

If the Tories win a fifth term, they will think they can get away with anything.

Keir Starmer, in contrast, has spent the last four years changing the Labour party so it is ready to serve Britain once again. Now, he is ready to change the country.

If he is elected on Friday, the work of change will begin. From restoring economic stability to cutting NHS waiting lists, Labour will start the work of rebuilding the country in the interests of the British people.

We know it won’t be easy, because the inheritance will be the most difficult for any Government in decades. But the point is to make a start. We will put country before party every single time. We need a clear mandate and a strong Government for this change – turning the page on Tory chaos and starting to rebuild.

I know some Mirror readers will still be making up their minds about the choice today. Don’t assume for a second that the election is decided. Many contests are on a knife edge and your vote really matters.

Change will only come if you vote for it, so please vote Labour today.
