Brits trying to keep up to speed with General Election results have slammed the BBC for its “terrible” coverage.
Presenters across Sky, ITV, Channel 4 and the BBC are continuing to report live from constituencies across the country this morning as eager Brits await updates following Labour’s landslide victory, which will later see Sir Kier Starmer enter Number 10 as the UK’s new Prime Minister.
But several have been left far from impressed by the BBC’s coverage – with some bashing the programme’s “useless hosts” while others said the broadcaster failed to deliver a balanced coverage of the results. Others said the programme was simply “impossible to navigate”.
One viewer, taking to X, said: “The BBC’s coverage has been f**king awful. Terrible set, busy graphics, repeated wrong decisions on what to cut to, crap guests, and zero chemistry between two pretty useless hosts. Not its finest hour(s).”
Agreeing, another simply added: “The BBC coverage has been absolutely terrible. I’d only keep Vine.”
One person tuning in on iPlayer said the coverage was a “mess” and “impossible to navigate”, adding: “What the hell is going on at the BBC? Turn on to see Jeremy Vince showing a graphic of Asquith. iPlayer coverage impossible to navigate. A mess.”
According to some viewers, the programme paid more attention to Reform party wins without acknowlegding the seats gained by the Green Party. One user said: “I know everyone has noticed this, but BBC News is just not mentioning the greens. It looks like they will get as many seats as reform. Reform is about 20% of the coverage, green about 1%”
Another added: “Am starting to see why people criticise the BBC political coverage. Much about Reform getting 4 seats well below predictions… the Greens have 4 too but virtually unmentioned, the graphic still saying they’ve only won 2. Also 5 independents, also apparently not a story.”
Another person, agreeing, said: “If you watched the BBC coverage of the election results, you would think that Reform got 68 seats and Lib Dems got 4, not the other way round – with a huge gain for the Lib Dems.”
A fourth joked: “Congratulations to Reform, who have judging by the coverage won a landslide in the Election…. oh wait Labour did. They have the same success relatively as the Greens, so given them some balanced coverage ffs BBC.”
