Jay Slater TikTok sleuth units document straight after ‘kidnapping’ hearsay

Amateur detective Paul Arnott has quashed “crazy” rumours that he’s been silenced by kidnappers as the Jay Slater mystery continues.

The TikTok sleuth flew out to Tenerife last month to help family members find the missing teen, who mysteriously vanished after a weekend rave on June 17. Arnott has built up a close rapport with Slater’s family and is thought to have received funds through the £49k ‘Get Jay Slater home’ GoFundMe to pay for “any equipment and essentials.”

But concern the 29-year-old has landed in hot water started to grow after he went “quiet” online.

“So a lot of people have been asking me ‘Paul, why are you being so quiet on social media?’ And I’m hearing all sorts of crazy things right now guys,” Arnott said.

“I’ve heard that I have been silenced by the police or I have been approached by kidnappers and silenced. I just want to say this is absolutely not true whatsoever and there is no truth in this guys.”

The TikToker added that it was “really sad” to see so many conspiracy theories arise from the tragedy, and compared Slater’s case to Nicola Bully – the Lancashire mum who went missing on her morning walk and was found dead a mile from where she disappeared three weeks later. He says he’s heard “crazy” claims that he’s related to Jay and that he’s “some sort of drug smuggler” and dismissed them both.

“None of this is true,” he said. “I haven’t been silenced by anyone.”

Meanwhile, vile trolls have hounded Jay’s pal Lucy Mae Law – after discovering what appears to be her old Facebook account. The 18-year-old is believed to be the last person to have spoken to Jay, 19, from Lancashire, before his disappearance. He is said to have called her to explain that he was lost and that his phone was about to die.

A Facebook account under the name ‘Lucy Mae’ which has been inactive since August 23, 2022, is now flooded with nasty comments branding her ‘Lu-ci-fer’. In a two-year-old status asking if anyone is selling a ticket for Leeds Festival, one twisted user pretending to be Jay Slater himself, wrote: “Please Lucy, find me,” and “Just tell them the truth.”

Spanish police called off their manhunt for Slater last month after efforts including drones and a sniffer dog were unsuccessful. However, officials confirmed they’re still following “several leads’.” A local woman says she spoke to Slater the morning he disappeared. At around 7.30 am, he asked the cleaner when the next bus would arrive, which wasn’t scheduled until 10am. It is thought the teen then attempted the gruelling 11-hour hike back to his holiday let.
