Darts legend Phil “The Power” Taylor has given his fans the thumbs up after going under the knife – promising a swift return to the oche.
Since hanging up his professional darts in 2018, the 63-year-old has been competing on the World Seniors Tour. But it’s not been all smooth sailing for the record-holding 16-time world champion.
He’s struggled for form, including a disappointing first-round exit at the senior championships in February, where he battled with arthritis in his hip. Taylor is determined not to bow out quietly as he plans to retire for good at the end of this year.

To get back to his best, he underwent surgery in June to tackle the issues that have been hampering his game. Over the weekend, he reached out to his fans via social media with a health update, reports the Mirror.
In a video message, Taylor said: “Hi everybody, Phil the Power. Just to let you know I’ve had my operation, everything’s fine because a lot of people have been asking me about it. I’m off my crutches now which is great.
“It’s been three weeks on Monday. So another three weeks and I’ll be on the practice board getting ready for the seniors. Hopefully now everything will be back to normal, that’s the plan. See you soon, keep well, stay safe.”
Taylor is set to be in the field for the World Seniors Matchplay this October at York’s Barbican, and for the World Seniors Darts Masters in Sunderland’s Rainton Arena in November before the end of his illustrious career.
Upon announcing his second retirement last year, he reflected: “It’s been an unbelievable journey over the past 35 years and I’ve loved every minute of it. I’ll always love performing to the best of my ability.
“But time waits for no man and I know now is the right time to step away from the Tour. I’m going to be working just as hard as I always have to make sure I give the fans what they want and go out on top.”
