The ex-British police detective assisting in the search for missing British teen Jay Slater has claimed there is “a significant new piece of information” regarding the teen’s disappearance.
And Mark Williams-Thomas has claimed that both British and Spanish authorities are aware of it.
Jay, an apprentice bricklayer from Lancashire, vanished more than three weeks ago while on holiday on the Spanish island of Tenerife for a festival with pals, prompting a massive search by Spanish authorities, Jay’s family and friends, volunteers and an army of internet detectives.

And while the Guardia Civil ended their search two weeks ago, Williams-Thomas has been carrying out his own. In a new update today, he said: “We know now that Jay took certain actions while at the rental because he was clearly worried about his own safety. This was shortly before he decided to leave.”
“In the last few days I received a significant new piece of information which I shared with both the British and Spanish police. This provides some clarity as to why he may have left in a hurry and did not want to return to the rental even though his phone was about to go flat.”
Whilst keeping tight-lipped about the nature of the newfound lead, Williams-Thomas had previously highlighted how Jay expressed to friends that he felt unable to return to the place he’d been stationed; alongside two older Brits prior to his unexplained absence. It had also been asserted that Jay, during the journey to the property, posted a social media video bragging about the theft of a £12,000 Rolex watch.
Mr Williams-Thomas added: “We’ve still not found evidence of a third party criminal involvement in Jay’s disappearance, although we have opened up links with a criminal underworld drugs associated crime.”
The former detective, who exposed Jimmy Savile, said it was likely Jay is in a mountainous part of Ibiza. He also confirmed that he had spoken to “all the people” Jay had interacted with leading up to the disappearance.
But, he said: “We have a number of outstanding actions that still require completing and we remain open-minded with our investigation. We are uniquely placed. We’ve spoken to nearly all the key witnesses to cross-check their accounts and evidence, thus building the clearest picture.
“I would appeal to anyone who had contact with Jay in the last 48 hours before his disappearance to please get in touch. I would like to appeal again to any parties involved in their own searches to share their data with us so we can compile an accurate map showing the areas that still need searching.”
