Jay Slater GoFundMe donations nonetheless pour in regardless of human stays bombshell

Human remains have been found in the search for Jay Slater but that has not stopped people donating to his GoFundMe.

A fundraiser was created to help Jay’s family afford rescue teams to find the 19-year-old Brit who went missing in the Masca area of Tenerife, on June 17.

Shortly after Jay vanished, his friend Lucy Law, whom he went to the island with, set up a GoFundMe page to support search efforts, and has so far raised £53,590. The money pot for search efforts continues to be bolstered by kind members of the public despite bombshell news breaking this afternoon.

There’s a lot more Jay Slater coverage where this came from

A Guardia Civil spokesman said on Monday, June 15 (today): “The mountain rescue and intervention group of the Civil Guard has located the lifeless body of a young man in the Masca area after 29 days of constant search.

“Given the complexity of the case, the discovery has been possible thanks to the incessant and discreet search carried out by the Civil Guard during these 29 days, in which the natural space was preserved so that it would not be filled with curious onlookers. All indications indicate that it could be the young British man who has been missing since June 17 in the absence of full identification.

“The first investigations reveal that he could have suffered an accident fall in the inaccessible area where he was found.”

Since making the statement, £45 has been added to the fundraiser from a handful of generous donors.

On Saturday, Jay’s mum, Debbie Duncan posted an update thanking everyone for their contributions so far.

She wrote: “Jay’s family would like to thank you all for your continued support at this difficult time. He was only 4 days into his holiday and his disappearance still remains a mystery. We are still here in Tenerife searching daily with the help of volunteers and local hiking groups. Paul is also still working tirelessly, which we are so grateful for and send him so much love and respect.

“As you all know the Guardia Civil gave up the land search after 12 days. We have been actively working with search and rescue teams and we can now confirm that we have a team of experts flying in over the weekend from the Netherlands, who will carry on the search with their specialist dogs. We are only able to fund this with the generosity of all those who donated.”
