Eurovision legends Bucks Fizz revealed on Lorraine on Monday that they are searching for two new members after an original star expressed his desire to quit.

The band, which found fame after winning Eurovision in 1981, is currently made up of Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan and Jay Aston.

However, Mike stressed how he ‘wants to take it easy’ and leave the band after doing his ‘fair show of shows’ over the past 43 years.

While speaking to Christine Lampard on the ITV show, Mike said: ‘I feel like I’ve had enough. The last show I will do with them will be sad but I’ll be happy, I want to relax and take it easy.

‘I’ve been thinking about it for like two to three years but then finally at the beginning of this year I thought there’s no point dragging it out, I’ll just tell them and they weren’t happy, were you?’ he quipped, while looking in Cheryl’s direction.

Cheryl jokingly replied: ‘I was ecstatic!’ Before, Mike added: ‘You were not ecstatic, they were in actual in tears!’

Mike also said: ’43 years I’ve been in Bucks Fizz! Like if I did murder, I’d do less time!’

Cheryl went onto reveal she and Jay are currently looking for two male singers ‘of a certain age’ to join them in the group.

She said: ‘We are going back to the format when we were on Eurovision we are looking for two guys of a certain age as we are a certain age but it works better vocally and we still do the dance routines.’

Jay added: ‘If people want to send their information go to our website but we are looking for someone like over 50.’

The group are currently putting together a farewell concert before Mike’s exit.

Bucks Fizz reached stardom in the 1980s after winning the historical Eurovision Song Contest with the song Making Your Mind Up in 1981.

Their banger catapulted to No1 in the UK charts and sold four million copies worldwide.

The group was originally formed solely for the contest and was comprised of vocalists Mike, Bobby G, Cheryl and Jay.

In 2004, a spin-off group of the band as The Fizz was formed after Bobby G, 70, won a court case preventing his former bandmates to perform under the name The Original Bucks Fizz.

The remaining three bandmates were said to be ‘extremely disappointed’ by the ruling, which took place in August 2011 after a long legal battle.

The judge ruled in favour of Bobby on grounds that since his wife (Heidi Manton, also a member of his group) owned the Bucks Fizz name, the use of the name The Original Bucks Fizz was therefore an impediment on their trademark.

The Bucks Fizz story has been consistently dramatic with various members coming and going throughout the years.

In 1985, Aston left the group which led Bobby to perform as a three-piece with Nolan and Baker.

But when Baker left in 1993, Bobby largely took over management and hired new members Heidi Manton and Amanda Schwartz.

Heidi would later become his wife in 2000, with the couple going on to have daughter Millie in 2006.
